Details of the Specialized CHISEL
D’Aluisio Smartweld gives the Chisel not only its low weight, but also its unrivaled handling and riding characteristics. Each aluminium tube has been specially shaped for its position in the frame and has different wall thicknesses. This allows stiffness and compliance to be optimized for efficiency, comfort and control.
The Chisel is related to the Epic 8, with which it shares performance features such as advanced kinematics, suspension with Ride Dynamics Tune and progressive geometry honed in the World Cup. The Chisel handles varied terrain with ease and gives riders the confidence to rock out. The steep seat angle positions riders centrally on the bike for optimum power transfer. The Chisel converts every watt at the pedals into maximum acceleration.
The Chisel boasts a hydroformed seat tube that integrates the pivot point of the rocker, the main pivot and, in an absolutely innovative move, the bottom bracket shell. This saves additional material and weight compared to a traditional bike, where the pivot points and bottom bracket shell are welded onto the seat tube.
